Eyes Up, Guardian.
Last Update look for my Titan in Destiny 2.
Today marks the final update for Destiny2. It's a bittersweet day and one I haven't completely processed yet. Destiny 2 is the first game where I found a community. I have friendships from all over the world because of these pixels on a screen.
I've grown more as a human. Become more empathetic. It helped me establish a new form of creativity that I didn't know possible and brought out parts of my personality that I hadn't stretched in previous endeavors.
While the game won't be receiving anymore updates or DLC or sequels for the foreseeable future, I'm forever grateful for the lessons I've learned over the last 12 years with it. The servers aren't shutting down and we can visit anytime. We'll keep helping people with PVE activities on Sundays until the wheels fall off on the channel.
The world will just feel different. Settled.
I'm taking these looks into the final update. Decided to take them back to some form of how these characters began in the sequel. The colors are pulled from their iconography.
The titles all have meaning. Godslayer from Pantheon 1.0, spending long hours grinding with friends. Feeling the relief of completing an encounter after frustrating hours pulling together the pieces to a puzzle that we kept knocking our heads up against.
Forerunner. This comes from the Season of Arrivals, probably the season I played the most. We helped 102 Guardians get Anarchy from Scourge of the Past right before they removed that raid from the game. This was before cross play, so we had to switch consoles and find helpers on every platform. Met and kept some lifelong friends from this experience.
Blacksmith. This title comes from the Scourge of the Past raid but it also symbolizes my time at Planet Destiny. I remember Moon, my boss at PD, pulling together a squad to get the Flawless (No Death) achievement for this one. It was so fun and felt truly accomplished when we beat it.
The emblems are from all over Destiny 2. "First Wave" from the Destiny 2 Beta reminds me of my time at DestinyTracker as a creator. It was toward the end of my time there, and I decided to stream to my own account that day instead of DT’s. It was the first time I hit anything close to Twitch Partner numbers, something I wouldn’t reach again until years later, and it was deeply encouraging to me as a creator.
"The Eternal Return" from my first solo dungeon experience in Shattered Throne, and "Metagalactic Bloom" for raising money for the Bungie Foundation (one of my favorite things to do over the years through the Game2Give event). I’ve been very lucky in my time making content for Destiny 2 and for the time invested in me by a community that’s plays this game I love.
Thanks for every memories. Thanks to my community. Thanks to the developers, artists, IT folks, motion capture artists, community managers and all who made Destiny a world where people wanted to be, express themselves, help others, and grow. You did amazing work under crazy conditions to bring us this reality and I hope you get to make more for this world before too long.
If you see me on Patrol or want to Raid, hit me up. I’m always down to help. Join my Discord server to find other folks to run with, to become friends, and to accomplish great feats with.
I don’t know how to end this post any other way than to say, as always, I hope you find what you're grinding for…
